Flyers Team was first introduced in 2003 at the Miguel Hidalgo International Airport in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. It was an airshow organized by the airport commmunity with the intention of celebrating 100 years of International Aviation.
Despite the fact that México stands as the second country with most extensive experience in aviation, it didn´t held any conmemorative celebration for Mexican or International Aviation. Thanks to the success obtained after the first event, Flyers Team decided to continue introducing year after year more types of aerobatic performances thus creating a real airshow.
In 2004 Aviación Profesional de Occidente, A. C -an organization formed by the aeronautics industry and aviation enthusiasts- seeks support from the government and private investors to produce the first major air show Flyers Guadalajara Vuela. The event took place in private and was addressed only for the flying community. The following years 2005 and 2006, the event increased in variety of performances but was still a private event.

For 2007 the venue for Flyers Guadalajara Vuela was moved to the lake of Cajititlán in Tlajomulco de de Zúñiga, Jalisco, México in order to open the event to the general public.
From this year onwards, Flyers Team is focused on turning Flyers Guadalajara Vuela into a yearly international air show called “Festival Internacional de la Aviación”. Finally, the following year, Flyers Guadalajara Vuela 2008 was a great success thanks to the support from Guadalajara´s city councils, the Secretaría de Turismo (Tourism Department), airplane owners, the flying community, sponsors and the great response from the audience. In just two days, the event gathered 115,000 members of the public in the restricted area plus 600,000 viewers in the surrounding area. |
